Both are made of metal and hang on a printed ribbon. The difference is the front of the medal.
Stock medals
A ready-made medal design that fits your race or sport, with your event printed on the ribbon.
Custom-mold medals
Your own design in metal: your logo, your race name and the year. The one people keep and hang on the wall.

Sizes
2 inch for school field days and big youth fields, 2.5 inch for most races and tournaments, 3 inch for finishers' medals that stand out.
Finishes
Gold, silver and bronze, for first, second and third or one finish for every finisher. Zinc alloy or brass.
Front designs
Die struck metal for a classic raised design, or full color for a logo in its real colors.
Neck ribbons
Printed neck ribbons with your event name, so leftover medals never get mixed up with next year's.
Planning your medal order
Medals are made to order, so plan from your event date:
- Start with your event date. We quote the price and timing with your order, and tell you the last day to approve the proof.
- Count your medals: finishers expected, plus a few extra for late registrations, or one for each player on every team.
- Approve the proof quickly: your medals are made once you approve it.
- Ask early: the sooner we know your date, the easier it is to plan.
What to send for a medal quote
Five things, and we can price it:
- The event: a 5K, a tournament, a league season, a field day.
- How many medals, and how many of each finish if they differ.
- Your event date, so we can work back to the proof.
- Size and stock or custom, or ask us to suggest one.
- Your logo or artwork for the medal and the ribbon wording.

How long do custom medals take?
We quote the price and timing with your order. Tell us your event date when you ask, and we will tell you the last day to approve the proof.
How many medals can I order?
Tell us how many you need, and how many of each finish, and we will quote the whole order.
Can the ribbon carry our event name?
Yes. Neck ribbons are printed with your event, so the medals are yours from the ribbon down.
Can you engrave the back?
Engraved backs are quoted per order. Tell us what you would like on the back, like a place, a year or a name, and we will include it in your quote.
Are stock medals faster?
We quote the timing for stock and custom medals with your order. Tell us your date, and we will tell you which fits it.
Do you make trophies and plaques too?
Yes. Choose plaques, crystal and acrylic awards from our awards catalog, engraved for your winners, and we can quote them with your medals.
