What we put on trucks and vans
Cut vinyl lettering and printed decals, sized to your vehicle from your photos and measurements.
Door lettering
Your company name, what you do and a phone number on both doors, in the colors and font of your logo.
USDOT and MC numbers
The numbers your truck has to carry, in letters that contrast with the paint and read from the road.
Logo decals
Your logo printed in full color and cut to shape, for doors, tailgates, back windows and toolboxes.
Reflective lettering
Reflective vinyl that lights up in headlights, for numbers and lettering that need to be seen at night.
We don't do full vehicle wraps. For a sign that comes off for the weekend, see car and truck magnets.
DOT numbers on trucks, in plain words
If your truck needs a USDOT number, the federal marking rule for commercial motor vehicles (49 CFR 390.21) asks for it to be shown a certain way. In short:
- What it says: the carrier's legal name or one trade name, and the number, starting with the letters USDOT.
- Where it goes: on both sides of the vehicle. Most trucks carry it on the doors.
- How it looks: letters in a color that contrasts sharply with the paint behind them.
- How big: readable from 50 feet in daylight while the truck is parked. The rule sets no letter height; we size yours to read at that distance.
- Keep it readable: the marking has to stay legible, so replace faded or peeling numbers.
This is a summary, not legal advice. Whether your truck needs a USDOT number depends on its weight and how you use it; New York requires one on many business trucks too. Check with the FMCSA or the New York State Department of Transportation.
What to send for a quote
The more we can see, the closer the quote. A few photos and measurements are all it takes:
- A straight-on photo of each side you want lettered, and the back if it gets lettering too.
- The flat area of each door, measured between the handle, the trim and any body lines, in inches.
- The year, make and model, and how many vehicles you want to match.
- The wording: company name, phone, website, and your USDOT or MC number exactly as registered.
- Your logo, as a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) if you have one; a clear photo works too.

What vehicle lettering costs
Every truck is different, so lettering is quoted on your measurements. Here is how the price is put together:
| What it is | Price | Ready in |
|---|---|---|
| Lettering, DOT numbers, decals and reflective kitsCast vinyl made for vehicles, or reflective vinyl | Quoted on your measurements | About 10 business days after you approve the proof |
What moves the price: how much lettering, how many colors, printed logos against cut letters, reflective vinyl, and how many vehicles. Matching a fleet? Tell us how many trucks, and we quote them together.
Matching a fleet
When every truck carries the same layout, your business looks established from a block away.
- One layout, every truck: we size it once for each model and keep your artwork on file.
- Adding a truck later? Send the new truck's photos and we match the ones you have.
- Unit numbers on each truck are easy to add to the same order.
- Shirts and hats to match: see work uniforms, embroidered with the same logo.

Vehicle lettering questions
Answers about DOT numbers, prices and timing. Don't see your question? Ask us.
Do you wrap vehicles?
No, we don't do full vehicle wraps. We do door lettering, USDOT and MC numbers, logo decals and reflective lettering, and removable car magnets.
How big do DOT numbers need to be?
The federal rule sets no letter height: the name and USDOT number must be on both sides, in a sharply contrasting color, and readable from 50 feet in daylight while the truck is parked. We size them to read at that distance.
What does door lettering cost?
Lettering is quoted on your measurements. The price depends on how much lettering, how many colors, printed logos or cut letters, reflective vinyl, and how many vehicles. Send photos and we will price yours.
Do you install?
No. We make it ready to apply; many customers put it up themselves or use their own installer.
How long does it take?
About 10 business days after you approve the proof. Tell us your date when you ask, and we will tell you if it can be met.
Can you match the lettering on our other trucks?
Yes. Send photos of a truck you already have, and we will match the layout, colors and font, and keep it on file for the next one.
What should I send for a quote?
A straight-on photo of each side, the door measurements, the year, make and model, the exact wording with your USDOT number, and your logo if you have one.
