The card, the edges and the printing
Painted edge cards are 3.5 by 2 inches on a 32 pt uncoated card, printed in full color on one side or both, with the edges painted black, gold, silver, red, light blue or yellow, or left white. The gold and silver are metallic paints. They are made in 250, 500 or 1,000 and printed in 5 to 7 business days. Design yours online: the designer shows the edge color around your card.
Why the edge matters
A business card is usually seen from the front, but it is held by the edges. A thick card with a painted edge shows its color the moment it comes out of a wallet or a card case, and it stays visible in a stack on a desk. The weight in the hand does the rest: people notice a card that does not bend.
Choosing an edge color
Pick the edge to answer your design. Black edges make a white card crisp and graphic. Gold and silver read as luxury, especially with a dark back. Red, light blue and yellow are brand colors: match one to your logo and the card feels like part of your identity. Unpainted white keeps the 32 pt weight with a quiet, natural edge.
Designs for a thick card
Simple works best on a painted edge card: your name, a short title, a few contact lines and plenty of space, with one accent color that matches the edge. A solid back in the edge color, or in black, makes the card feel even thicker. Our painted edge templates are drawn this way.
Good to know

The price is for the whole order, from 250, and the more you order, the less each one costs. We check every file and send a proof within 1 business day, and nothing is made until you approve it. It is ready to pick up or ships 7 to 9 business days after you approve the proof. Pick it up free at our Hopewell Junction shop, or we ship it anywhere in the US.

How thick is a painted edge business card?
32 pt, about twice the thickness of a standard 14 pt business card and stiff enough that it does not bend in a wallet.
What edge colors can I choose?
Black, gold, silver, red, light blue or yellow, or unpainted white. Gold and silver are metallic paints. The whole order has one edge color.
Does the edge color cost more?
No. Every edge color is the same price; the price depends on the quantity and on printing one side or both.
How many can I order?

How long do painted edge cards take?
