A rectangle is $0.17 a square inch and cut to shape $0.19, with each side of a shaped magnet rounded up to the next whole inch. One magnet is fine: there is no minimum.

How to measure your door
A magnet needs a flat, smooth spot of steel. Measure before you pick a size:
- Measure the flat area only, between the door handle, the trim and any body lines or creases.
- Leave an inch or two all around, so the edges sit flat and never ride over a curve.
- Check both doors: on many trucks the two sides are not the same.
- Most car doors take a 12" x 12" to 18" x 12" magnet; most pickup doors 24" x 12" or 24" x 18". Your measurements decide.
Test the spot with a fridge magnet first. Some newer trucks, including the Ford F-150 since the 2015 model year, have aluminum body panels, and a magnet will not hold on aluminum, fiberglass or plastic. For those, choose vehicle lettering.

Caring for your magnets
A few habits keep a magnet looking good and your paint safe:
- Put it on a clean, dry, flat door, and smooth it out from the middle so no air is trapped under it.
- Take it off every few days and wipe the magnet and the door, so moisture and grit don't sit underneath.
- Take it off before a car wash, and keep it off brand new paint until the paint has fully cured.
- Store it flat or on a steel surface, never folded or rolled tight, out of hot sun.
Magnets or lettering?
Magnets come off in seconds, so a personal car can be a work car on weekdays only. When the truck is always a work truck, lettering is the better choice.

What size magnet fits a pickup truck door?
Most pickup doors take a 24" x 12" or 24" x 18" magnet, but measure the flat area of your door first, between the handle, the trim and any body lines. Some newer trucks have aluminum doors that a magnet will not hold on.
Will a magnet damage my paint?
Not when it is cared for. Put it on a clean, dry door, take it off every few days to wipe both sides, and keep it off brand new paint until it has fully cured.
Will it stay on at highway speed?
A magnet holds best flat on clean steel, with every edge sitting down and no air underneath. Check it before a long drive. For a sign that never comes off, choose vehicle lettering.
Can I order just one?
Yes. Magnets are sold one at a time with no minimum. Most people order a pair, one for each door: a 12" x 9" pair is $36.72.
