What it's for
A now hiring sign reaches the people who already drive past your business every day, and many of the best applicants live nearby. Restaurants, shops, contractors, landscapers, warehouses, schools, senior living and healthcare offices use yard signs by the road and banners on the building to fill jobs faster, especially before the holidays and the summer rush. We will help you word the sign, check it on the proof, and have it ready to go up quickly.
Sizes, printing and stakes
Hiring yard signs are printed in full color on 4mm corrugated plastic, on one side or both, in 24 by 18 inches or 24 by 36 inches standing tall, with H-stakes for the lawn. Hiring banners are 13 oz vinyl, hemmed with grommets, from 6 by 2 feet to 10 by 3 feet, for a fence, a storefront or a building. Design a yard sign online from a now hiring template, or design a banner.
Get applicants from the road
A driver has a second or two to read your sign, so give them three things: NOW HIRING, the job, and how to apply. A short web address or a phone number works from the road; a QR code works on a sign people walk up to, at a door, a counter or a job fair table. Put the sign where traffic slows down, at your driveway or the corner by the light, and use high contrast colors such as black on yellow or white on red.
Pay ranges and New York's rule
New York's pay transparency law, Labor Law section 194-b, asks employers with four or more employees to include the pay or the pay range when they advertise a specific job, and a printed sign counts as an advertisement. So every template that names a job has a line for the pay range and a line for where to see the job details, such as your website. A general "Now Hiring" sign that names no job has the pay line as an option. This is not legal advice; check with your own advisor if you are unsure.
Signs, banners or flags
Yard signs are quick to put up and move, and suit a lawn, a job site or a row along the road. A banner on the building or the fence reads from farther away and looks more permanent. A feather flag that says NOW HIRING catches the eye from both directions, and an A-frame at the door invites people in to apply on the spot.
Seasonal and ongoing hiring
Holiday retail hiring runs from October into December, and landscaping, pools, camps and ice cream stands hire from March to June. Some businesses hire all year and keep a sign up for good. A sign that names the season ("Now hiring for the holidays") gets attention now; a general sign with a web address keeps working all year.
Job fairs
At a job fair, the table needs to be found and the conversation needs a next step. A banner stand behind the table, a printed table throw in front and business cards with an apply link to hand out cover it. Bring a QR code on the stand so people can apply before they leave the room.
How ordering works
Design it online: start from one of our templates or your own logo, or upload a print-ready file in the designer, and see the price for every quantity as you go. You can order just one, and the price of each drops as you order more. We check every file and send a proof within 1 business day, and nothing is made until you approve it. It is ready to pick up or ships 6 business days after you approve the proof. Rush orders are printed the next business day, with no separate proof: the design on your screen is what prints. See how rush printing works. Pick it up free at our Hopewell Junction shop, or we ship it anywhere in the US.
Questions about now hiring signs & banners
What should a hiring sign say?
NOW HIRING in big letters, the job or jobs, the pay range when a job is named, and how to apply: a short web address, a phone number, or "Apply inside".
Yard sign or banner?
A yard sign is quick to move and ideal for a lawn, a job site or a row along the road. A banner on the building or the fence reads from farther away and suits a hiring push that will run for weeks.
Can one sign work for different jobs?
Yes. A general "Now Hiring, All Positions" sign with your website works for any opening. When you name a specific job, include its pay range, so one sign per job is the simpler way to keep that current.
How many hiring signs should we put out?
One at each entrance to your lot and one at the busiest nearby corner is a good start. Contractors and landscapers often keep a few extra for job sites.
Can we reuse the sign next season?
Yes. Corrugated plastic signs and vinyl banners hold up for seasons of use. Keep the dates and the pay off a sign you plan to reuse, or add them on a smaller rider you replace.

I would recommend Hudson Valley Promos to anyone looking for custom embroidery work. I went here with an idea for Christmas presents for my family. Zach not only created the idea, but was so friendly and professional throughout the process. I will definitely be going to Hudson Valley Promos again for some more custom work. Please consider using this local shop because you will not be disappointed. Thanks, Zach!
Zack and Bruce took care of me like I was a 15 year old client. I cannot thank them enough for their help and quick turnaround. Products came out perfect. Truly made my day.
Zack is truly the best! I get 100% of my business stationary and apparel through hvpromos. Quality and turn around time is top notch. I won’t go anywhere else.
Incredible. Zack was first class from inception to completion. I needed four shirts embroidered for a golf outing that was less than a week away. The communication, responsiveness, and guidance were top notch. The shirts came out beautifully and I could not be happier. Highly recommend Zack and his team for all your needs. Thank you!
