What it's for

A bookmark is a small piece people keep for months, tucked into whatever they are reading, so it is a smart place for a message you want seen again and again. Libraries hand them out for summer reading, schools use them for reading logs and events, churches print a verse or the service times, authors give them away at signings, and shops and dentists slip them into bags as a friendly reminder. We will help you lay out both sides, then send a proof before anything is printed.

Size, paper and printing

Custom bookmarks are printed in full color on thick card, on one side or both: Standard, Premium or Luxe (laminated), in glossy, matte, soft touch or writable: 2 by 7, 2 by 8 or 2.5 by 8.5 inches. Design yours online from a bookmark template, or upload a print-ready file.

Who uses bookmarks

Public and school libraries order them for reading challenges, new card sign-ups and book sales. Teachers and PTOs use them for reading logs, book fairs and author visits. Churches print scripture, a prayer, or a memorial with a photo. Authors and bookstores hand them out at signings with the book cover and a QR code. Size and paper

The 2 by 7 inch bookmark has room for a longer reading log or a verse with its reference, and it fits almost any book, from a paperback to a hardcover. The 2 by 8 gives a longer list an extra inch, and the 2.5 by 8.5 is wide enough for a photo beside the words. Standard card is stiff enough to stand up in a book without bending; Premium is thicker still, and Luxe is laminated for a bookmark that lasts. Glossy makes colors bright, matte reads without glare, soft touch feels velvety, and writable takes a pen on the back for a reading log. Colors can run right to the edge.

Designing a tall piece

A bookmark reads from top to bottom, so put the one thing you want remembered near the top, the details in the middle, and your logo, website or QR code at the bottom. Keep words at least 8 point and a quarter inch from the edges, and use the back for the practical part: a reading log with lines to fill in, a list of events, library hours or a calendar.
