Last days to order for Election Day
The general election is Tuesday, November 3, and early voting starts Saturday, October 24. Signs do the most good when they're up before early voting begins. Each date is the last day to order for pickup at our shop the business day before, worked out from how long each piece takes and the days our shop is closed.
The proof date is the one that counts. Standard orders start when you approve the proof, and the dates allow a business day for us to send it and one for you to approve it. Rush orders have no separate proof: the design on your screen is what prints.
| What you need | Ready to pick up, after the proof | For early voting, order by | For Election Day, order by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yard signs | 4 to 8 business days, by quantity | Friday, October 9 | Monday, October 19 |
| Palm cards | 4 to 6 business days | Tuesday, October 13 | Wednesday, October 21 |
| Door hangers | 6 to 8 business days | Friday, October 9 | Monday, October 19 |
| Bumper stickers | 5 to 7 business days | Monday, October 12 | Tuesday, October 20 |
| Rush yard signs and palm cards | The next business day, no separate proof: order by 11 AM Eastern | Tuesday, October 20 | Wednesday, October 28 |
Rush prints up to 100 yard signs at 24 by 18 inches; larger runs print on the standard schedule. Every Door Direct Mail is printed and mailed about 10 business days after you approve the proof, with no rush option, so plan mail first. Shipping instead of pickup? Checkout shows the arrival date for your address. Past a date? Call us at 845-202-7600 and we'll tell you what can still make it.

Start from a campaign template
Campaign designs for every piece, in strong colors and big, readable names. Pick one, change the name, office and colors, and every template already has room for your "Paid for by" line.
Rather we lay it out? Send your logo, photo and wording with a quote request. Yard signs include basic design and setup, and we'll set up the palm cards, door hangers and stickers to match. See door hanger templates too.
The "Paid for by" line, and where signs can go
A few rules every New York campaign runs into, in brief. This is a summary, not legal advice: check with your campaign committee or the Board of Elections about your own pieces.
"Paid for by"
New York's Election Law, section 14-106, asks political committees to print "Paid for by" and the committee's name on printed political communications such as brochures, flyers, posters and mailings.
Yard signs and stickers
The same section exempts small promotional items, including yard signs and bumper stickers, that stick to the name, the office and a brief message of support. Our templates carry the line anyway, so it's there if you need it.
Where signs can go
Place signs on private property with the owner's permission. Keep them out of the road right-of-way and off utility poles, and no campaign signs within 100 feet of a polling place entrance while the polls are open.
Taking them down
Most towns set removal deadlines after Election Day, for example 3 days in the Town of Fishkill and 10 days in the Town of East Fishkill. Check your town before the signs go up.
Federal races and outside groups
Candidates for Congress have their own federal rules, including a "Paid for by" line in a printed box, and groups not working with a candidate say who paid and that the piece was not authorized by any candidate. The wording on every piece is your campaign's call: we print it exactly as you approve it on the proof.
How a campaign order works
Most campaign pieces are designed online, with the price shown as you go. For the whole kit at once, send us what you have and we'll quote it and set up every piece to match.

Every race, every year
New York votes every year, so this page stays here for the next race too. Confirm each year's dates with the New York State Board of Elections or your county's Board of Elections before you plan.
- Village electionsMarch, in some villages
Village trustee and mayor races, in the villages that hold their elections in March.
- School budget votes and board racesTuesday, May 18
The third Tuesday in May. A district can tell voters the date and hours but not ask for a yes vote; a PTA paying with its own money can.
- PrimariesJune
Party primaries for the November races. Order early: signs and palm cards for a June primary are printed in the spring.
- The general electionTuesday, November 3
The Tuesday after the first Monday in November, with early voting starting ten days before.

Campaign printing questions
Answers about timing, quantities, mail and the paid-for line. Don't see your question? Ask us.
How many yard signs does a town race need?
It depends on how many supporters will host one and how many busy corners you can reach. Many local campaigns order a first run for supporters' lawns and reorder as requests come in. We keep your artwork, so a reorder is quick, and the price per sign drops as the quantity goes up.
How fast can you print campaign signs?
Standard yard signs are ready to pick up 4 to 8 business days after you approve the proof, depending on how many. With rush, up to 100 signs at 24 by 18 inches are printed the next business day when you order by 11 AM Eastern on a business day, with no separate proof. The designer shows the date before you check out.
Do you mail postcards to a whole district?
Yes. Every Door Direct Mail reaches every home and business on the carrier routes you choose, from 200 postcards, with no list to buy. It's quoted for your routes and mailed about 10 business days after you approve the proof. To mail only to your own voter list, ask about a targeted mailing.
What goes on the "Paid for by" line?
In New York, "Paid for by" followed by the name of the political committee that paid for the piece. Every campaign template has the line, the wording is your campaign's call, and we print it exactly as you approve it on the proof.
Can you match the palm cards, door hangers and stickers to our signs?
Yes. Use the same colors, fonts and name on every piece, or send us your sign file and we'll set up the palm cards, door hangers and bumper stickers to match.
Where can we put up campaign signs?
On private property with the owner's permission, out of the road right-of-way and off utility poles, and never within 100 feet of a polling place entrance while the polls are open. Most towns also set a deadline to take signs down after Election Day, so check your town.
Do you print for school board and budget votes?
Yes: yard signs, palm cards and door hangers for school board candidates and for budget votes. If the school district is paying, the piece can give the date and hours of the vote but can't ask for a yes vote. A PTA or parent group paying with its own money can.
Can we reorder the same signs for the next race?
Yes. We keep your artwork, so change the year or the office if it has changed, approve the new proof, and the signs are on their way.
