Foil Business Cards

What it's for

Foil business cards are the cards people reach out and touch. A thin layer of gold or silver metallic foil is pressed onto the parts of your design you choose, a logo, a name, a monogram or a border, so they flash as the card moves while everything else prints in full color. Attorneys, real estate agents, financial advisors, salons, jewelers, wedding planners and anyone whose brand should look established reach for foil. The card, the foil and the printing

Foil business cards are 3.5 by 2 inches on a thick 16 pt card laminated on both sides, matte or soft touch (18 pt in all), with square corners or 1/4 inch rounded corners. Gold or silver foil goes on the front, or on the front and back when you print both sides. They are made in 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500 or 5,000 and printed in 4 to 5 business days after you approve your proof (5 to 6 with rounded corners). Design yours online: select a word, shape or logo and press Foil, and it shines on screen as it will in print.

Gold or silver

Gold feels warm and classic: it suits navy, black, cream, forest green and burgundy cards and established, traditional brands. Silver feels cool and modern: it suits black, charcoal, blue and white cards, tech and finance. Switch between them in the designer to compare, and the price shows for each.

Matte or soft touch

Foil is pressed onto a laminated card, which keeps it bright and smooth. Matte lamination is crisp with no glare; soft touch feels velvety in the hand and makes dark colors look deep, the classic card under gold foil. See soft touch business cards for the same feel without foil.

Setting up your foil

Keep foil words at 8 point or larger in a simple, regular weight, lines at least 0.75 point, and foil about 0.2 inch (5 mm) in from the edges. Leave a little space between foil letters and shapes, since foil spreads slightly. Nothing prints under the foil: the press leaves bare card there and the foil covers it, so do not repeat a foil logo in ink underneath. Uploading a logo? A PNG with a clear background takes foil in the shape of the logo. The designer checks every foil mark when you press Check my design, and says what to change.

Foil or spot UV?

Design it online: start from one of our templates or your own logo, or upload a print-ready file in the designer, and see the price for every quantity as you go. The price is for the whole order, from 100, and the more you order, the less each one costs. We check every file and send a proof within 1 business day, and nothing is made until you approve it.
