Styrene Signs

What it's for

Styrene is the sign for the shop window, the shelf edge, the wall by the register and the frame on the counter. It is a thin, smooth white plastic sheet, printed in full color, that stays flat, wipes clean and slides into a sign holder or a frame. Stores use it for sales, new arrivals and hours; restaurants for menu boards and specials; offices and clinics for wall and door signs; events for signs taped to a table or a wall. Material, sizes and printing

Styrene signs are printed in full color on 20 point (0.020 inch) styrene, on one side or both, from one sign. Choose 6 by 24, 12 by 18, 12 by 24, 18 by 24, 24 by 24, 24 by 36 or 24 by 48 inches, standing tall or laid wide at the same price. Colors can run right to the edge. Design yours online from a template, or upload a print-ready file, and we check it before anything prints.

What styrene is good for

Styrene is made for indoor signs. It is stiffer than poster paper, so it hangs flat on a wall or in a window without curling, and much thinner than foam board, so it fits in a snap frame, a sign holder or a menu stand. Its smooth face takes bright color and wipes clean. Put it in a store window with double-sided tape, on a wall with adhesive strips, in a frame, or on a shelf edge.

Styrene, foam board or coroplast?

Choose styrene for windows, shelves, frames and walls, where a thin, flat sign looks best. Choose foam board when the sign has to stand up on its own on an easel or a table: it is thicker and stiffer. Choose coroplast for anything that lives outdoors: it is corrugated plastic, waterproof and light, the board yard signs are printed on.

Picking a size

The 6 by 24 inch strip runs along a shelf edge, across the top of a display or along a window. 12 by 18 inches suits a counter, a door or a small window; 18 by 24 and 24 by 36 inches are the poster sizes for windows and walls, and 24 by 48 inches is tall and bold beside an entrance. The 24 by 24 inch square is for a logo or a window display.

Designing a window or shelf sign

One message, big: a sale, a price, a new arrival, the hours. Keep words and logos half an inch inside the edge, where a frame or holder may cover them, and use strong contrast so the sign reads from across the store or from the sidewalk. A sale sign should say when the sale ends. The designer flags anything that might not print well before you order.
