Menus

What it's for

Menus take a beating: wet hands, spilled drinks and wiping down after every table. Pick the style for how yours are used. A flat menu on thick card sits on the table or in a holder; a laminated one wipes clean after every guest; a bi-fold menu opens like a book for a longer dinner menu; and a tri-fold take-out menu goes in every bag and on every counter. Styles, sizes and paper

Flat menus come 8.5 by 11, 11 by 17, or slim at 4.25 by 11 inches, standing tall or laid wide, on 14 point card, glossy or matte, or on 18 point laminated card that wipes clean, printed in full color on one side or both. Bi-fold menus are 8.5 by 11 (folding to 5.5 by 8.5) or 11 by 17 (folding to 8.5 by 11) on 14 point card, scored down the middle and folded for you, ready for the table. Tri-fold take-out menus are 8.5 by 11 or 8.5 by 14 on 100 lb gloss paper, printed both sides and folded for you. Changing the specials every week? Flat, bi-fold or take-out?

A flat menu is the simplest to read and the quickest to reprint when prices change: a cafe board on the counter, a drink list, a kids menu or a dinner menu on 11 by 17 card. A bi-fold opens to two facing pages, with the cover and the back outside, for a fuller menu that still feels like one piece. A tri-fold take-out menu has six panels, slips into every to-go bag and fits a door hanger rack or a counter stand.

Laminated menus

Laminated menus are printed on thick card and laminated on both sides, glossy or matte, so they wipe clean with a damp cloth between guests and stand up to a season of use. They suit a menu that stays the same for months. If your prices or dishes change often, a glossy or matte card menu costs less to reprint.

In the designer

You design the menu as it prints: a flat menu side by side, a folded menu as its sheet with the folds drawn on it and each panel named, the cover on the outside and the menu inside. Words stay clear of the folds, and "Check my design" tells you if a line runs too close. Design it online: start from one of our templates or your own logo, or upload a print-ready file in the designer, and see the price for every quantity as you go. The price is for the whole order, from 25, and the more you order, the less each one costs. We check every file and send a proof within 1 business day, and nothing is made until you approve it.
