A back that keeps them reading
- A reading log: ten lines for the titles, and the prize for filling them.
- Twenty minutes a day: a week of days with a line each and a spot for a parent's initials.
- Bubbles to color: forty rings, one for every 20 minutes read, with a line for the name and grade.
- Book club: six months to write in the season's picks, and where to pick up a copy.
- Hours and a QR code: the branch hours and a code that opens the catalog.
- Story time: the day, the room and a code to order the author's book.
Summer reading, start to finish
Hand the bookmarks out on the last day of school and at the summer kickoff, with the challenge's dates on the front so families know when logs are due. The ocean design suits the youngest readers; the sun on blue works for every age. Put the prize on the back, and change the dates to your own program's: every word on the bookmark is yours to edit.
Printing for a library
Order one design for the whole system, or one for each branch with its own hours. Bookmarks start at 100 of a design on 14 point card, printed on both sides. A drilled hole leaves room for a length of yarn, which children like to choose themselves.
