How a step and repeat works in photos
A head-and-shoulders photo in front of a backdrop frames about three feet wide by two feet tall, somewhere between five and six and a half feet off the floor. The repeat patterns are spaced so at least two whole logos land in that frame wherever someone stands: logos 10 to 16 inches wide, repeating every 18 to 24 inches across and 12 to 18 inches down, in a staggered brick pattern.
No QR codes: they photograph badly and nobody scans a backdrop. Keep text at least 3 inches tall.
Sizes
- 8 × 8 ft: the standard photo wall for two to four people.
- 9 × 8 and 10 × 8 ft: for groups and red carpet lines.
- 6 × 4 ft and up: a tabletop or a small booth.
Material and color
Backdrops print on wrinkle-free 9 oz fabric, hemmed with 3 inch pole pockets top and bottom, on a frame that sets up without tools and packs into a carry bag, or as the print alone for the frame you have. A light or mid-tone background photographs best: pure white blows out under a flash, and pure black swallows dark hair and suits. The fabric is matte, so the flash does not bounce.
