Spot UV Postcards

What it's for

Spot UV postcards put a raised, clear gloss on the photo, the logo or the headline you mark, over a soft matte card, so the important part catches the light. Real estate agents use them to make a listing photo shine, restaurants and salons for a menu item or a logo, and brands for a tone on tone pattern that shows as the card turns. Sizes, card and printing

Spot UV postcards and cards come in 4 by 6, 5 by 7, 8.5 by 5.5 and the slim 8.5 by 3.5, on a thick 16 pt card matte laminated on both sides, printed in full color. Spot UV goes on the front, or on the front and back when you print both sides, at the same price. They are made in 500, 750, 1,000 or 2,500 and printed in 4 to 5 business days after you approve your proof. Design yours online.

What to mark

A photo, a logo, a bold headline or a pattern shows spot UV best. The colors print under the gloss as you design them. Avoid small words in spot UV: it can sit up to about 1/8 inch off the print, so keep marked text at 10 point or larger and spot UV about 0.2 inch (5 mm) in from the edges.

Mailing spot UV postcards

A 4 by 6 or 8.5 by 5.5 card mails like any postcard: keep the right half of the back clear for the address and postage, and keep spot UV off it. Want us to handle the mailing? Ask about direct mail.

Ideas that use the gloss well

A just listed card with the house photo in gloss and the rest matte, a restaurant card with the signature dish shining, a salon or spa card with a tone on tone pattern across a dark front, or a grand opening card with the logo raised. One strong glossy element reads better than many small ones, so pick the part you most want touched.

Spot UV or foil postcards?

Spot UV keeps your own colors and makes them shine; foil postcards turn the marked parts gold or silver and start at smaller runs. Choose spot UV for photos and bold color, foil for a formal or festive look.

Design it online: start from one of our templates or your own logo, or upload a print-ready file in the designer, and see the price for every quantity as you go. The price is for the whole order, from 500, and the more you order, the less each one costs. We check every file and send a proof within 1 business day, and nothing is made until you approve it. It is ready to pick up or ships 6 to 7 business days after you approve the proof. Pick it up free at our Hopewell Junction shop, or we ship it anywhere in the US.
