Designed for how shirts are printed
Every ink color in a screen print is its own screen and its own cost, so most templates use one or two colors, which is also what looks best from across a field. They use a color that reads on the shirt you pick, light ink on dark shirts and dark on light, so one design works on every colorway. Designs with many colors or a photo print by DTF instead, which has no color limit.
Placements
- Full front: up to 12" × 14", the team name or the event.
- Left chest: about 3.5 to 4 inches wide, the staff logo or a small mark; the classic spot for embroidery.
- Full back: names, numbers, sponsor lists.
- Sleeve and back of the neck: a small extra, such as a year or a web address.
Embroidered designs keep letters at least a quarter inch tall and to a few thread colors, since thread cannot hold fine detail.
Ordering shirts
Screen printing is the best value from about two dozen shirts up; DTF has no minimum and suits small runs and full-color art; embroidery suits polos, jackets and caps. Leave the method on Auto and the studio picks the cheaper one for each placement. Apparel is ready in about 10 business days after you approve the proof, with free pickup in Hopewell Junction.
