What a hiring sign needs
- NOW HIRING (or WE'RE HIRING, HIRING TODAY) as the headline.
- The role, and full or part time if it matters.
- The pay: "$18 to $22/hr". New York asks employers with four or more employees for it when the sign names a specific job.
- How to apply: a short web address such as yourwebsite.com/jobs, "apply inside" or "inquire within".
Yellow and black is the most visible pairing on the road; red and white is a close second.
Pay transparency and fair wording
New York Labor Law 194-b says an employer with four or more employees advertising a specific job must disclose the pay or pay range, and the state Department of Labor counts printed signs as ads. A general "now hiring, all positions" sign is a gray area, so the general templates keep a pay line that is yours to set to your range, change to "inquire within", or delete. Hiring wording must not name an age or other protected trait: say "team member" and "server", not "young" or "waitress". A signing bonus sign states its terms, such as "paid after 90 days".
Drivers and seasonal help
Driver templates cover CDL-A and Class B with the pay and the route type; seasonal help wanted suits the holiday rush and the summer season. For a job fair, put the date, the hours and the address on the sign.
From the shop: Put a short, easy address on the sign (yourwebsite.com/jobs) and make sure the page works on a phone. Most people will look it up from the car later.
