Pesticide application markers
New York's commercial lawn application marker must be made of rigid material, yellow with black lettering, at least 4 by 5 inches, with letters at least 3/8 inch tall (6 NYCRR 325.40). The front carries PESTICIDE APPLICATION, DO NOT ENTER, DO NOT REMOVE SIGN FOR 24 HOURS, the date and time of the application, and a warning symbol at least 1.5 inches across; the applicator's name and phone are the only extras allowed. Aluminum is ideal: rigid, reusable, and easy to write the date on with a marker.
In the counties that adopted neighbor notification, Ulster among them, do-it-yourself applicators post a marker in English and Spanish; that bilingual design is in the set.
At the supply yard
Mulch, topsoil and stone signs state the price with its unit, "$35 per cubic yard", and "delivery available" if you deliver. A 24" × 36" sign at the gate reads from the road, and the price panel can be written on if prices change during the season.
For customers' lawns
"Newly seeded, please keep off the grass" and "lawn care by" signs in aluminum go back in the truck after each job and come out again next spring. Keep them friendly rectangles, never styled like regulatory signs.
From the shop: Keep a set of markers in each truck with a paint marker for the date and time. Aluminum markers wipe clean for the next job.
