A card that brings the car back
Most shop cards leave with a receipt, so give the back a job. Write the next oil change date and mileage on it, or the time of the next service appointment and the vehicle, or punch a wash card at the register. The customer keeps it in the glove box, and the phone number is right there when a warning light comes on.
What goes on the front
- The shop name, big and bold: these designs set it in Anton, in red, charcoal and royal blue.
- The services in three or four words: brakes, tires, oil, inspections.
- The phone number and the hours, since most people call before they come in.
- The address, for the first visit.
Keep the claims accurate
If a card names a price, say what it includes: "Oil change $39.99, most vehicles, up to 5 quarts conventional." You can offer New York State inspections as a service, but do not copy the look of the official inspection station sign, and use a maker's logo only if you are authorized to.
