One service, one price
Drivers passing a shop read one service and one number. Put OIL CHANGE and the price in the biggest type, and the qualifier right under it: "most vehicles, up to 5 qts, synthetic extra". Brake specials, tire deals and detailing packages follow the same pattern. A 3 × 8 ft banner on the fence or the building reads from the road.
Inspections and dealer disclosures
The official inspection station sign is set by regulation (15 NYCRR 79.13): school bus yellow, black letters, three feet by two. The NYS inspections banner here is blue and white so it can never be mistaken for it. A dealership sales event banner follows the Attorney General's guidelines for dealers: a price includes everything except tax, title and registration and says so beside it, a savings claim says what it is measured from, and the offer states when it ends.
Material
Service stations are windy, open lots. 13 oz vinyl is fine on a building; on a fence use mesh, or 18 oz heavy duty with wind slits. Leave the price off a banner that should last all year, and use a separate special banner that changes with the season.
From the shop: Bungee cords give a little in the wind, which saves grommets on a fence that shakes every time a truck goes by.
