Lead shoppers
A "sale this way" arrow at the door walks shoppers past the new arrivals to the sale rack; checkout chevrons and "line starts here" bring them back to the register. Aisle markers help in a bigger store, and "this way" arrows point to a second room or a downstairs.
The front door
- Welcome mat and logo, shop local just inside the door.
- Smile, tag us in front of a display worth a photo.
- Keep your distance and next guest, privacy line at the counter or the pharmacy window.
- Watch your step at a step down, in yellow and black.
Traffic and wear
At the entrance and the register, where every customer walks, the rugged textured material lasts longest. Laminated decals suit the rest of the store. Rounded corners keep edges from lifting under carts.
From the shop: Watch where shoppers actually walk for a day before you place the arrows; put them on that path, not the one on the floor plan.
