One word, big
SALE and OPEN are the two most useful flags a shop can own, and both work every week of the year. Clearance and sidewalk sale come out for the event. Put your logo near the top of the flag and let the word run up the rest, in the highest-contrast colors you can: red and white, black and yellow.
Grand openings
A pair of grand opening flags in red and gold, plus a banner on the building, is the classic opening setup. Swap them for OPEN flags after the first month, when "grand opening" starts to look stale.
Placement and permits
- Set flags where drivers see them before the turn, not after.
- Use a cross base with a water bag on asphalt or concrete, and a ground spike on grass.
- Check your town's limits on temporary signs; some cap the number of flags or the days they stay up.
From the shop: Rotate two flags each week, OPEN and SALE, so regulars notice something new. The same flag every day becomes part of the scenery.
