One message per sign
A business sign by the road does one job. NOW OPEN with your name. Your logo with a phone number. CURBSIDE PICKUP with the number to call. A driver will not read a list of services, so save those for the website and give each sign a single message in large type. On a road-facing sign, the phone number beats the web address: nobody types a URL at 40 miles an hour.
Signs for the lot and the door
- Directions: this way, customer entrance, deliveries in rear, with arrows.
- Parking: customer parking only, curbside pickup, with room for the phone.
- Hours: come in we're open, closed see you tomorrow, open late, open by appointment, winter hours.
- Changes: we've moved (with the new address in full), under new management, ribbon cutting.
For parking signs that stay up, aluminum outlasts plastic; the same designs are on our aluminum sign templates.
Using your brand
Upload your logo into the logo space and tap any color in the template to change it to yours. Keep to two or three colors, and never stretch a logo to fill a space: the designer keeps its proportions. Many towns ask for a permit for temporary business signs and limit how long they stay up; East Fishkill, for one, allows grand opening banners for 30 days.
